There are several ways to keep your gun safe and prevent anyone from using it, while it is stored safely away. There are cable locks which use a cable that runs through the chamber of the pistol to assure that if someone grabs the gun, you will need a key. Another way is a chamber lock; the chamber lock is designed to block ammunition from being chambered. Finally, there is the trigger lock, which prevents motion of the trigger. Some trigger locks encase the whole trigger, making it completely inaccessible. While other trigger locks only prevent the trigger from moving by placing a metal rod between the trigger and the trigger guard. All these types of locks have locks in them, and can only be unlocked by a key. These locks are designed to work with the pistol being unloaded.
There is much controversy concerning the trigger locks. Many people have stated if a criminal was invading your house, it would take you way too long to unlock the trigger and load the gun, which makes it useless. Other people would rather keep their gun stored in a safe, unloaded or loaded, without a trigger lock on it. This would make it a lot quicker to access a gun to stop the invader. Many people keep most of their guns locked up in there safe, and have a self-defense weapon hidden in their dresser or nightstand, without a trigger lock. This makes the person living in the house have a sense of protection and can still access their gun in a timely manner, if something was to happen. I recommend any family who has smaller children or young teenagers to lock up your weapons, in a safe or a trigger lock. If you live in a high crime area or need a sense of protection, then I would keep a gun in my dresser or nightstand, hidden, just in case something were to happen. I also recommend that you educate your children about gun safety and if anything were to happen, such as a robbery, the children would know what to do. Source for Gun Safety Locks

Why You Should Wear Hunters Orange
Hunters Orange Is very important when hunting. It shows other hunters that you are not an animal and to not shoot you. I believe hunters orange is very important for Dove, pheasants, quails, and turkeys. Turkey hunters are more prone to shoot first before actually knowing what it is. If you wear camo and move around another hunter might mistake you for a turkey and then proceed to shoot you. It has happened many times. If you wear hunters orange, even a vest, then you will stand out just enough so another hunter wont 't mistake you for a turkey. I myself only hunt Black tail deer and do not wear hunters orange. I feel that it is not important to wear hunters orange when hunting deer. Most of the time you are a significant distance away from the deer so most of the time you are not in immediate danger from other hunters.

Why the .243 is the Best Hunting Round for Deer
In my opinion, I believe the .243 Winchester is the best round for hunting deer, Black tail and White tail. I have hunted black tail for many years and I believe that the .243 is the smallest round to take down a deer. The smaller the caliber the smaller the entry and exit wound. That means less meat that has a bullet in it(more meat in your freezer). As long as you have a good shot, a .243 is more than enough to take down a full size buck. You can go larger than a .243 such as a .270, 30-06, or a 30-30. If you do go bigger in caliber size than that will mean a bigger entry and exit spot. Which means more meat will be ruined by the bullet. That is why I choose a .243 to hunt deer.

My Passion for Guns
When I was a young boy, my father got me into guns and hunting. He taught me the fundamentals of guns and how to be safe with them at all times. Every time I look at the news I see school shootings or people who misuse guns. They are ruining the reputation of guns. Many people think guns are just weapons to use for massacre. They have a negative connotation to them and I want that to change. Guns are not always used for killing/hunting. They can be used for recreational purposes such as: skeet shooting and target practice. The people who commit these insane shooting crimes are not right in the head. They either have mental problems or have been bullied their whole life. The problem isn't the guns. It's the families who grow these people up who don't know how to handle guns or are the people who get bullied so much that there is no helping them. People need to stop ruining the reputation of guns.

Governor Jerry Brown Vetoes Semi-Automatic Weapons Ban
In this article in the NY Times, Jerry Brown was set with an ultimatum. Democrats tried to pass a large amount of gun control laws after a large string of mass shootings occurred. They wanted to crack down on semi-automatic weapons, as well as crack down on high capacity magazines, and lead ammunition. Jerry Brown vetoed the strongest part of the bundle of laws. He vetoed the ban on semi-automatic weapons that, if passed, would of made semi-automatic weapons banned. The state of California, has some of the strictest gun laws in the United States. Mr. Brown said, "I don't believe that this bill's blanket ban on semi-automatic rifles would reduce criminal activity or enhance the public safety enough to warrant this infringement on gun owners right's."
I'm very glad Jerry Brown vetoed parts of this bill, especially the semi-automatic ban. The semi-automatic ban, if passed, would of caused an immense amount of controversy with the 2nd amendment. The National Rifle Association(NRA), would of rallied up their troops and protested the decision. I feel that banning semi automatic weapons would not help decrease mass shootings at all. It is not the guns fault, it is the person behind the weapon that is the problem. If you look at the recent school shootings: Columbine and Newtown, you will see that the shooter had problems. Whether that's bullying at school or family issues, the person is not completely sane. The people are the issue in the situation. Saying that guns kill people is the same as saying that cars kill people. As it states in the article, California has some of the strictest gun laws, and we have some of the least amount of gun violence compared to the rest of the United States. As well as, the percentage of people who own guns are very low considering every other states percent of people who owns guns are much more than California. I am very glad Governor Jerry Brown did not pass the law that would make semi-automatic weapons banned. I hope Brown or the government never decide to ban semi-automatic weapons.

My Memory of Shooting My First Gun
The first time I shot a gun was when I was six. I remember the day to the tee. It was a warm summer evening, my father brought out his .22 caliber rifle and asked me if I wanted to shoot it. I said yes and I was glad because It became one of the best days I have ever had. We shot for an hour, while my dad showed me the ropes. We both had a great time shooting together and even to this day we both shoot regularly, at the gun range or In our backyard. We always have a great time together and It Is a stress reliever for the both of us. We have made our own father son tradition and we will continue to shoot together.
